Universe, GratitudeI broke my ankle two weeks ago. It has been a gift from the Universe.

The subject line of the email I sent to friends and family informing them of my situation was ‘Be Careful What You Ask For’. I decided on the title because I had just informed the Universe that I would like three months of being waited on, no obligations that I didn’t want to take on, time to read, and finish several projects I’d let slide.I forgot to state how I wanted this to happen, so the Universe took over. And, I am ever so grateful it did.

But, I’ve changed my perspective about being careful what you ask for. Don’t be careful what you ask for. Appreciate and be grateful for what you ask for and for the outcome of your request.

The past two weeks have been transformational. I have had to ask for support and help (which I don’t like to do but is so very important), I have said ‘no’ to visitors because I wanted the time to heal and focus on me not worry about them and their feelings about the situation, I have finished an important project related to the A to Z affirmation cards (you may already know them as weekly clues letters), I have appreciated how much my husband and I like to be together, and his unending care of me during this time.

I also have been noticing how grateful I am that I live where I can (soon again) walk to work I enjoy, art galleries, shops of all kinds, wonderful restaurants, and neighborhood gardens. I have renewed my intention to get back in better shape (after not formally exercising for over a year) – this I state here as a way of declaring to others who will remind me of this intention. I am already taking better care of myself in other ways that feel wonderful, like eating well.

All this to say, that yes I am grateful that this happened. And, I will be grateful when I no longer have a cast on my leg, or the need to use crutches. I will also be more mindful and respectful of the power of involving the Universe in the manifesting of what comes into my life. Thank you, Universe.
