all possibilities, adventureOver 20 years ago, during some of my darkest days, I was introduced to the most inspirational women and the possibility of truly transformational life concepts .

The group was called ‘No Limits for Women Artists’ led by Priscilla who has become one of my best friends and wise mentor, always supportive of me creating the wonderful life I now enjoy. The group asks participants to take risks, to step outside preconceived creative limits.

The concept has evolved for me from  ‘No Limits for Women Artists’ to ‘All Possibilities for All Creatives’ (with the understanding that we are all creative and artists, and using positive language leads to a positive outcome).

The shift from limiting self-constraints to limitless self-creation uses the following four guiding questions  (which I have successfully incorporated into all areas of my life):

  1. What is your greatest vision for your art (or work, or relationship, or life)?
  2. What is a step you can take towards that vision?
  3. What might get in your way?
  4. How will you get support? (Not just emotional support, but the tough kind that keeps you on track toward reaching your greatest vision, your dreams and goals.)

Right now, take a moment to imagine moving towards your dreams and goals.  It might be your art, and it might also be your vision for work you love, a partner who is your best friend and support, a lifestyle that allows you the freedom to do what you want.  What would it include?  Where would you live?  What would your finances look like?  What are your possibilities – no limits?

Most importantly, how will you feel once your greatest vision for your art/life/work is a reality? Take a few minutes to write about it, or create a vision board/collage of it.  Include as much detail as possible.  You are beginning to move towards it if you can imagine the smallest details – colors, smells, images, feeling states.  Who would be included? What might get in your way – be specific (fear isn’t specific enough)? Lack of money – nope, you can always do something that is free or inexpensive to move you even slightly closer to that vision.  Not enough time – nope, that’s a self limitation.  Not enough support, nope, it is up to you to find the kind of support that will keep you on track.  These are your self identified limitations – not real ones.
